Who I am, and why I do this.
An Army veteran, a twenty-year military spouse, and a therapist who will meet you where you are and tell you the truth.
Meet Misty
I'm Misty Priddy, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the founder of Abundant Mercy Counseling. I'm a U.S. Army veteran, and I was a military spouse for twenty years, so I know what deployments, moves, and coming home actually do to a person and a family. I'm licensed in Kentucky, Indiana, Colorado, and Florida, and I hold a Bachelor of Healthcare Administration and a Master of Marriage and Family Therapy.
I didn't set out to be a therapist. I joined the Army in my early twenties planning to become a veterinarian, and I chased that path for years. The work I do now grew out of a calling I resisted for a long time before I gave in to it. That arc, fighting who I was meant to become and finally accepting it, is the same one I walk a lot of my clients through today.
My own life is part of why I can sit with yours. I've been the spouse of a deployed soldier, including a video call with my husband while bombs were coming in. I was stationed in Japan, far from family, and had to learn who I was as a young adult and make hard decisions alone. I've been through a difficult marriage, a divorce, and the long road back to knowing myself, and I'm now in a happy second marriage. I work from lived experience, not just training.

How I Work
Honest, plainspoken, and grounded.
My work is honest and plainspoken. I'm not going to sugarcoat things or hand you a worksheet and call it healing. This is hard work, and you'll get out of it what you put in. I'll walk beside you the whole way, but I can't do it for you. What I can do is meet you where you are, tell you the truth, and help you get back to feeling like yourself again.
I've been where you are
A year and a half in the Army, twenty years as a military spouse, and hundreds of clients since 2019, across every branch, the Guard, and the Reserves. I tailor the work to the person in front of me instead of running everyone through the same method.
I'll tell you the truth
The question I keep coming back to is a simple one: who are you outside of this relationship, this role, the uniform? A lot of folks don't know the answer yet. That's usually where we start.
Faith-informed, never imposed
Faith matters to me personally, and everything I do is grounded in the belief that people deserve real mercy and a real shot at getting better. I won't bring it into the room unless you open that door.
What Guides the Work
Mission, vision, and the values behind every session.
Vision
To be the therapist veterans, service members, and their families trust when they are ready to stop white-knuckling life and become themselves again, and to grow Abundant Mercy Counseling into a practice that extends that care through other therapists who hold the same standard.
Mission
Misty helps veterans, service members, and their families move from stuck, ashamed, and alone to steady, understood, and in control. She does it with honest partnership, practical tools they can use in the moment, and the lived understanding of someone who has walked military life herself, as a soldier and as a spouse.
Core Values: MERCY
The word at the heart of the practice, and what a client feels in the room.
Meet you where you are. Whether someone walks in fully committed or with one foot out the door, Misty starts where they actually are, not where they “should” be. Thirty percent is better than zero.
Expert of your own life. Misty is the expert in the room. You are the expert in your life. The work is a partnership, not a lecture.
Real work happens outside the room. Change isn't finished in the session. Misty walks beside you; she won't do it for you, and she won't beg you to do it.
Candor, no sugarcoating. Misty tells you the truth, even when it's hard to hear, because sugarcoating doesn't help anyone.
Yours alone, tailored. No single method fits everyone. Misty pulls the right tool for the person in front of her, whatever moves you to the next step.
Beneath it all: faith. The reason she does this work and the source of “this life is not about me.” Never imposed, kept in the background, holding up everything above it.
Life Outside the Room
A little of who I am when I'm not working.
When I'm not in session you'll usually find me outdoors, hiking, kayaking, on horseback, or out on the motorcycle. The rest of my time goes to my family, our dogs, a good book, and traveling somewhere new.
You don't have to explain everything today.
You don't have to have it all figured out before you reach out. Book a free 10-minute call and let's just talk. If I'm the right fit, we'll keep going. If I'm not, I'll help you find who is.
